Job Title: Apprentice Line Worker

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Apprentice Line Worker to join our team at the City of Albany, GA. As an Apprentice Line Worker, you will be responsible for operating light equipment and performing manual work functions associated with construction, repair, and maintenance of Electrical Power distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a variety of equipment, machinery, and tools used in construction, maintenance, and repair of power distribution systems.
  • Perform routine general maintenance tasks necessary to maintain machinery, equipment, and tools in operable condition.
  • Monitor equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety.
  • Report faulty equipment.
  • Perform manual work functions associated with maintaining right-of-ways, ditches, and holding ponds.
  • Assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing underground and overhead structures, including high mast lighting and street light systems.
  • Work after normal business hours, weekends, and holidays in the event of a natural disaster, power outages, or any disruption of service to Albany Utility customers.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 6 to 12 months previous experience and/or training operating light equipment required.
  • Valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements preferred.
  • CPR training required.
