Job Summary

This is a full-time position that requires working days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The position involves performing semi-skilled work associated with the maintenance of Recreation facilities, grounds, and equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the grounds, performing various tasks, and ensuring the facilities are clean and safe for use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the grounds, including mowing grass, edging landscaped areas, planting and maintaining trees, shrubs, and flowers.
  • Dispose of litter and remove debris from the grounds, empty trash containers, dig holes/trenches, and shovel and spread materials.
  • Set up rooms/fields for rentals, clean and maintain restrooms, set up or arrange equipment/facilities for department activities, lift/move furniture, equipment, and heavy material.
  • Assist with cleanup following storms or emergency situations, prepare clay areas and turf areas for game play, aerify, drag, and groom baseball and softball fields, measure, mark, lay out, and paint playing fields, line and chalk ball fields.
  • Communicate with supervisor, other departments, employees, contractors, utility companies, vendors/suppliers, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities.
  • Review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
  • Follow safety procedures, utilize safety equipment, and monitor work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.
  • Prepare or complete various forms, reports, correspondence, daily work sheets, inspection sheets, building assessments, service records, maintenance records, inventory records, charts, time sheets, or other documents.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Supplemented by 2 months previous experience and/or training or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
