**Position:** Patient Service Representative - IRMC Physician Group - Full Time

**Department:** IRMC Physician Group

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Deliver outstanding customer service during every patient interaction.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with hospital departments and provider offices.
  • Schedule appointments using the appropriate Cerner Solution, adhering to departmental templates and provider protocols.
  • Provide patients with clear instructions related to their appointment type.
  • Execute pre-registration tasks within Cerner.
  • Collect or confirm demographic information, insurance details, and other necessary data during each call.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of accepted insurances, insurance eligibility software, and relevant websites.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and address any discrepancies.
  • Communicate policies regarding patient out-of-pocket responsibilities, including co-payments.
  • Discuss financial options and refer to financial counseling when necessary.
  • Gather email addresses and send portal invitations.
  • Conduct outbound calls to schedule appointments, confirm bookings, and pre-register patients.
  • Stay informed about medical terminology.
  • Guide patients to the appropriate office or department, providing necessary contact information and facilitating transfers.
  • Responsibilities may evolve over time.

**Qualifications:**

***Experience and Education:*** A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Basic computer proficiency is essential. Previous experience in customer service and the medical field is preferred.

***Knowledge/Skills:*** Strong interpersonal communication skills are necessary to effectively engage with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Candidates should demonstrate well-developed organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities. The ability to maintain composure in stressful situations and utilize appropriate resources is crucial. Basic computer skills, a fundamental understanding of medical terminology, and exceptional customer service skills are required.
