Job Summary

The Assistant Nursing Director role at MedStar Health is a leadership position that allows experienced nurses to formally lead and remain close to the bedside. As a member of the Division of Nursing's leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of patient care in the Medicine Pulmonary department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop department goals and objectives in collaboration with the Nurse Director, ensuring compliance with hospital policy and procedure, clinical practice guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Provide shift-based clinical leadership through role modeling professional practice behaviors, proper delegation of activities, and management of the nursing team.
  • Collaborate with the nursing leadership team, Medical Staff, and leaders of other departments/disciplines to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in patient rounding to review patient status and connect with patients and families.
  • Maintain clinical knowledge and skills, engaging in the provision of direct care for a caseload of patients as required.
  • Assume administrative responsibilities in the absence of the director and provide coverage for other colleagues as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (Master's preferred)
  • DC RN License
  • Approximately three to four years of progressively more responsible job-related experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
