Job Overview

Clark Dietz is seeking an experienced Construction Technician to join our Michigan Construction Team. The selected candidate will provide construction inspection services for MDOT, county, and municipal infrastructure projects around Michigan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and document civil construction projects, including roadway, bridge, and intersection improvements.
  • Read and interpret construction plans and documents, computing quantities and verifying measurements and layouts.
  • Collect site data and verify existing conditions.
  • Perform sampling, testing, density control, material certification, and reporting as necessary.
  • Maintain detailed daily logs and submit progress reports and pay documentation.
  • Collaborate with construction and design staff to complete projects on budget.
  • Work with project stakeholders to resolve issues in a professional manner.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required; A.S. degree in Construction Technology or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum one construction season of experience on infrastructure projects.
  • Current MDOT certification for inspection and/or testing desired.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel and Word) required.
  • Experience with Fieldbook, ProjectWise, and MicroStation desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed daily logs.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work with project stakeholders.
