Sandis is seeking a dedicated Chainman/Rodman to join our team. The successful candidate will be a collaborative individual who is also capable of working autonomously, possesses self-motivation, and is comfortable with an early start (6am – 3:00pm) with potential for overtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and ensure precision in various survey types, including construction staking, As-Builts, ALTA, topographic, boundary, and subdivision surveys.
- Accurately read and write stakes in a clear and legible manner.
- Guide junior apprentices in the operation of survey equipment (Leica), survey techniques, and safety protocols.
- Carry out tasks as directed by the Party Chief or Project Manager.
- Report any irregularities encountered in the field to the Party Chief.
- Maintain survey equipment in a clean and functional state.
- Interpret construction drawings and maps effectively.
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Valid driver's license issued by the state.
- Completion or enrollment in an apprenticeship program, maintaining good standing within the union.
- Strong attention to detail coupled with effective time management skills.
- Physical capabilities include the ability to:
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Navigate rough and uneven terrain while carrying survey equipment.
- Move through confined and cluttered spaces.
- Stand for up to 12 hours daily.
- Utilize hands for grasping and arms for reaching.
Upon hiring, candidates may be required to undergo random drug testing in accordance with federal, state, and client regulations. Continued employment will depend on meeting specific project requirements.

Compensation: $48.32 per hour
