Role Summary

The Sous Chef plays a vital role in the success of our Food Program. This position is accountable for maintaining the standards of the Client's culture, adhering to health regulations, and upholding Compass Group's expectations regarding food quality, freshness, and presentation. The Sous Chef will oversee daily kitchen operations, including administrative tasks, culinary execution, sanitation, and safety protocols. Additionally, this role involves motivating, training, and developing kitchen staff to achieve operational goals while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

In performing their duties, all employees are expected to:

  • Engage professionally with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member on all assignments.
  • Work independently while recognizing the importance of communication and coordination with other team members.
Major Duties
  • Embrace and promote Compass Group's philosophy, culture, and commitment to high-quality food and service.
  • Assist the Executive Chef in managing the café operations.
  • Exhibit a genuine passion for culinary arts.
  • Ensure all products and purchases align with Compass Group's sustainability standards.
  • Understand and enforce the contractual agreements with clients.
  • Supervise and develop kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and daily oversight.
  • Ensure adherence to uniform standards as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of job descriptions.
  • Support the Executive Chef in conducting staff evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with hiring and training standards, documenting all processes accordingly.
