Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the billing department to optimize revenue and cash flow while ensuring compliance with established policies.
- Monitor accounts receivable processes and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Report performance metrics and action plans to senior management.
- Develop strategies to achieve key revenue cycle indicators, including accounts receivable days and cash collections.
- Analyze financial data and present trends and insights to leadership.
- Regularly review billing workflows to ensure equitable distribution of tasks and achievement of departmental goals.
- Address complex issues involving patients and providers as needed.
- Manage self-pay receivables and vendor relationships to facilitate resolution of accounts receivable.
- Establish and refine policies and procedures for operational efficiency.
- Engage with payers to resolve issues and ensure compliance with contract terms.
- Supervise hiring, training, and performance evaluations of billing staff.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of third-party billing requirements and reimbursement practices.
- Conduct staff meetings to discuss reimbursement methodologies and updates in insurance guidelines.
- Stay informed on compliance regulations and ensure the billing team is educated on relevant standards.
- Meet deadlines set by senior leadership.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Qualifications:
- Required: Coding Certification or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years in a leadership role within healthcare revenue cycle operations.
- Experience in orthopedic specialties is preferred.
- Prior managerial experience with a proven ability to lead and motivate teams.
Skills:
- Effective communication skills with various stakeholders.
- Thorough understanding of the Revenue Cycle Management process.
- Proficient in financial data analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Organized and capable of meeting deadlines.
- Ability to manage large teams and streamline workflows.
- Knowledge of claims processing and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with coding systems and medical terminology.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
