Key Responsibilities

The Orthopedic and Spine Nurse collaborates closely with patients, their families, and the orthopedic team to ensure effective education, smooth recovery processes, and the minimization of complications. Responsibilities include:

  • Encouraging patient mobility and educating on joint and bone health.
  • Implementing strategies to alleviate pain and prevent complications.
Unit Highlights
  • 16-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5.
  • Patient demographics include orthopedic, neuro, spine, and various surgical cases.
  • Joint Commission Certified for Total Hip and Knee procedures.
  • Supportive team environment that fosters positivity and accountability.
  • Opportunity for orthopedic certification after two years and participation in surgical observations.
Qualifications
  • A.D.N or BSN degree is preferred.
  • Current MO RN license or multistate RN license required upon hire.
  • BLS certification is mandatory upon hire and must be maintained.
  • ACLS certification is required within six months of hire.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification is necessary within 90 days of hire, with annual documentation of stroke-related continuing education.
