Job Summary

This is a per diem/on call position for night shift. The role requires traveling to see patients in the Anchorage, AK area.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Hospice Director or designee and on order of the physician, the Registered Nurse is accountable for direct and indirect quality care for patients and families of all ages, according to the individualized needs of the patient, following the nursing process and in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.

The nurse accepts professional development as an integral part of nursing practice. Providence caregivers are not simply valued – they're invaluable.

The hospice program emphasizes quality rather than length of life. Hospice treats the person, not the disease, taking special care in include the family. It coordinates patient care activities with other members of the health care team in a collegial relationship to promote patient comfort and assist in the achievement of a comfortable and peaceful death.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Alaska Registered Nurse License.
  • Within 30 days of hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Oncology, Hospice, or Long term Care.

About the Team

Providence Home and Community Care (HCC) is a service line within Providence with over 8,000 caregivers and 2,000 volunteers serving nearly 200,000 people a year, in their homes, in clinics and in a variety of congregate living ministries across our seven-state footprint.

HCC provides a full range of services and support for people of all ages, especially those facing chronic or life-limiting illnesses.

Our core competencies include restorative care, longitudinal care and care through the end of life.
