Clerical Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Clerical Support Specialist to provide essential support to our principals and staff at the Burlington Community School District.

About the Role:
  • This is a Class C, 8 hours/day, 200 days/year position.
  • New hire must have an Associate's degree, Para-educator Certificate, or be able to pass a competency test.
  • Experience is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support to principals and staff in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Prepare and distribute materials as requested to principals, certified staff, and support staff.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, other employees, and the general public.
  • Obtain Medication Administration Certification, CPR Certification, and First Aid Training as required.
Requirements:
  • Ability to maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety, and security.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, react calmly in emergency situations, cope with change, and work under pressure while using good judgment in making decisions.
  • Proficiency in using a personal computer, word processing software, database, and spreadsheet software applications, including the student information system database (SIS).
  • Ability to multitask various responsibilities in a pressure-related environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to apply common sense in situations and deal with or solve problems.
  • Ability to accurately count cash.
  • Demonstrated history of satisfactory job attendance.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information concerning staff, students, and related information.
  • Exhibit individual leadership as a role model for maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct and professional behavior.
