Patient Care Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at VCU Health. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing direct, age-specific care to patients in their assigned unit, making age-appropriate adjustments as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe and direct care to patients, monitoring their conditions and providing updates to the healthcare team.
- Assist with feeding, hydration, and nutrition, as well as ambulation and patient mobility.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and stocked environment to facilitate meeting patient needs and unit/healthcare team functioning.
- Document patient information, including vital signs, intake/output, and other relevant data.
- Participate in hospital, department, or unit patient safety initiatives and maintain courteous and effective rapport with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other members of the healthcare team.
- High School degree or equivalent required; Certified Nursing Assistant or equivalent certification preferred.
- AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and adapt to frequent change.
May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse, as well as high noise levels and bright lights. May be required to use physical restraints and wear personal protective equipment as needed.
