Optum Home Infusion Pharmacist Opportunity

At Optum, we're dedicated to delivering care and improving health outcomes for millions of people around the world. As a Home Infusion Pharmacist, you'll play a critical role in connecting patients with the care and resources they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Dispense unit doses, specialty pharmaceuticals, and related supplies in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Compound medications using sterile and ventilated environments, adhering to established guidelines and regulations.
  • Process, pack, and ship outgoing pharmacy orders, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of medications and supplies.
  • Review medication orders, evaluate appropriateness, and ensure completeness, considering the special needs and behaviors of the patient population.
  • Verify prescriptions not directly received from prescribers or physicians' agents, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide oversight of pharmaceutical care, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and monitoring therapy outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
Requirements:
  • BS in Pharmacy or PharmD degree.
  • Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of Ohio.
  • Solid drug product and clinical pharmacy knowledge.
  • Experience with infusion-related therapies and ability to navigate complex orders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to work accurately and efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including weekends, and be on call as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Nutritionally Certified.
  • Pharmacist with Home Care or Home Infusion experience.
  • Sterile compounding experience.
  • CPR+ software experience.
