About the Role

Volt is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design and develop mechanical systems, components, and products that meet our high standards of quality and performance.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to determine the feasibility, performance, and cost-effectiveness of mechanical designs.
  • Engineering Drawings and Specifications: Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications using CAD software.
  • Testing and Validation: Perform simulations and calculations to evaluate the structural integrity, thermal performance, and mechanical behavior of designs.
  • Material Selection: Select materials and components based on engineering requirements, cost considerations, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Prototype and test mechanical systems and prototypes to validate performance and functionality.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, and manufacturing engineers, to integrate mechanical systems into product development.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance during product assembly, testing, and deployment.
  • Design Reviews and Project Meetings: Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and client interactions to communicate progress, discuss challenges, and propose solutions.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in mechanical engineering design and product development, including 2+ years of project management experience.
  • Professional Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) certification is required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is also preferred.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including injection molding, machining, and sheet metal fabrication. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., Finite Element Analysis). Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
  • Leadership and Communication: Proven track record of leading engineering projects from concept to production, with a strong emphasis on technical excellence, innovation, and quality. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines within budget constraints.
  • Teamwork and Mentoring: Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing engineering challenges.
