Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Eligibility Worker I to join our team at the County of Santa Clara CA. As an Eligibility Worker I, you will play a critical role in determining eligibility for public assistance programs and providing excellent customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct interviews with clients to gather information and determine eligibility for public assistance programs
  • Review and verify financial, personal, and social information to determine eligibility
  • Assist clients with completing forms and obtaining required verifications
  • Document information received and make referrals to departmental social services programs or other services as needed
  • Work effectively in a team environment and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members and the public
Requirements
  • Sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate possession and direct application of knowledge and abilities
  • One year of clerical work or customer relations experience, including six months of public contact and interviewing to obtain financial and/or personal data
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of public assistance programs, regulations, and policies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members and the public
