Job Title: Environmental Chemist

At Practical Applications, we are seeking an experienced Environmental Chemist to join our team. As an Environmental Chemist, you will play a crucial role in providing expert advice and technical support in the assessment, management, and mitigation of chemical-related environmental issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Environmental Assessments:
    • Conduct chemical analyses of environmental samples to identify and quantify contaminants and assess their potential impacts on the environment and human health.
    • Design and implement field sampling programs and laboratory tests to gather data and inform decision-making.
  2. Data Analysis and Interpretation:
    • Analyze complex chemical data using advanced statistical and modeling techniques to identify trends and patterns.
    • Interpret findings and prepare detailed technical reports, including risk assessments and environmental impact statements.
  3. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Advise clients on compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
    • Assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals for projects involving chemical usage or remediation.
    • Stay updated on changes in environmental laws and standards.
  4. Remediation and Mitigation:
    • Develop and recommend remediation strategies for contaminated sites.
    • Oversee the implementation of remediation projects and ensure effective chemical management.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of remediation efforts and adjust strategies as needed.
  5. Consultation and Client Interaction:
    • Provide expert advice and solutions to clients on chemical management and environmental issues.
    • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
    • Facilitate workshops and training sessions on environmental chemistry topics.
  6. Sustainability and Environmental Management:
    • Promote sustainable chemical practices and processes in client operations.
    • Evaluate and recommend improvements to reduce environmental footprints and enhance sustainability.
    • Support the development of corporate environmental policies and strategies.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental chemistry, environmental consulting, or a related field.
    • Proven track record in environmental assessments, data analysis, and regulatory compliance.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in chemical analysis techniques and laboratory instrumentation.
    • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and standards.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficient in using statistical and modeling software.
    • Effective communication and presentation skills.
    • Project management experience is a plus.
Working Conditions:
