Operations Research Analyst

Job Summary

You will serve as a key member of the FORCE READINESS ANALYTICS GROUP (FRAG) of COMMANDER NAVAL AIR PACIFIC, responsible for advancing the organization's cost and supply management efforts, enhancing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive cost analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities.

• Develop and implement cost optimization strategies and initiatives.

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the cost analytics team, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and priorities.

• Develop and present detailed reports, charts, tables, and presentations to summarize research findings and support strategic decisions across the Naval Aviation Enterprise.

• Develop new procedures, techniques, or theoretical frameworks to provide rigorous scientific bases for conclusions.

• Conduct research, trend analysis, and statistical reporting to inform and shape policy recommendations.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private, public, or education sector as a Professional Operations Researcher, or Artificial Intelligence subject-matter expert leading a team in developing and implementing cost optimization strategies and identifying cost saving opportunities (e.g. operational effectiveness, procurement adjustments, technological enhancements) to improve financial performance impacting Naval operations.

Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

Bachelor's degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

Courses acceptable for qualifying for operations research positions may have been taken in departments other than Operations Research, e.g., Engineering (usually Industrial Engineering), Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Management Science.
