EC Program Specialist-Behavioral Support Specialist

Under the supervision of the EC Director, the EC Program Specialist-Behavioral Support Specialist performs a variety of evaluative, supportive, and supervisory tasks system-wide in assisting the teachers of students with disabilities. The Specialist may perform a wide range of tasks to support the supervision of EC teachers and ensure the compliance of the regulations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Key Responsibilities- Audit and review EC folders and paperwork to ensure compliance with IDEA in regards to service delivery
- Ensure fidelity of EC programs
- Assist EC Director in ensuring fidelity of EC personnel and performance
- Conduct professional development on EC regulation and procedures
- Liaison between school and parents of students with disability
- Perform data checks at schools including progress monitoring
- Facilitate monitoring of LEA Self-Assessment
- Develop and maintain EC Procedural Manual
- Provide essential support for new EC teachers
- Attend Professional Development at local and state functions
- Train teachers in appropriate and effective data collection and progress monitoring
- Attend IEP and other EC related meetings as needed
- Provide support to principals regarding EC and behavior/PBIS regulations and procedures as requested
- Assist EC Director in monitoring and supervision of admissions/entry into self-contained programs
- Organize and provide/deliver professional development to teachers as needed
- Assist with planning county-wide EC meeting
- Conduct student observations
- Organize and facilitate transition meetings
- Organize and communicate information regarding deadlines
- Share school and district data as required
- Conduct fidelity checks on IEP processes, service delivery, data collection, and progress monitoring
- Model classroom management techniques or individual student behavioral support strategies for classroom teachers
- Work collaboratively with teachers and scaffold support as needed
- Provide support aimed at preventing crisis situations through offering interventions, conflict resolution, and problem solving strategies
- Support and encourage teachers to grow professionally
- Assist schools (administration, teachers, etc.) in resolving non-compliance as well as crisis situations in regards to EC law
- Provide general supervision of Behavior Support Assistant
- Maintain all records for PRC 029
- Work collaboratively with mental health and counselors in supporting students needs
- Complete and submit grant for PRC 029 and provide any documentation requested to DPI and regional behavior support
- Attend behavior support meetings and disseminate information to necessary parties
- Monitor compliance at middle school and work with compliance specialist to ensure all regulations are followed and enforced
- Collaborate with schools/DSS foster care/local group home providers to document students in foster care or group home settings that have EC services, complete the draft funding document, and submit to EC director
- Serve as district CPI trainer
- Maintain district database for CPI and schedule/communicate trainings to those in need
- Other duties as assigned
