Electrical Engineer for Water and Wastewater Projects

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team at Jacobs, a leading provider of professional services in the water and wastewater industry. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and specify electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities
  • Lead in preparing contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for complex projects
  • Expertly apply knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering and design concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines related to electrical engineering industry
  • Manage several different assignments simultaneously
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates in the water market
  • Perform power system studies for electrical systems including load flow, short circuit, coordination and arc flash
  • Have competency in equipment sizing, grounding, and relay coordination
  • Perform field visits and conduct site investigations for public and private clients
  • Provide services during construction including submittal reviews, response to Contractor's request for information, review and approval of change orders, and preparation of record drawings
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams across multiple office locations
  • Develop basis of design reports and technical memorandums
  • Mentor junior staff
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and ability to be licensed in multiple states (or ability to obtain PE license within one year of hire)
  • 4 to 15 years of experience in professional design of electrical systems associated with water projects
  • Low and medium voltage power distribution experience
  • Solid understanding of applicable industry electrical codes, and standard practices, including the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA requirements
  • Hands-on knowledge and design proficiency in electrical standards, codes, and vendor equipment options
  • Electrical system testing and commissioning experience
  • Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Instrumentation and Control system design experience
  • Experience with LEED certification or similar sustainability experience
