Position Objective:

The Community Engagement Coordinator will design and execute initiatives aimed at supporting families, children, and seniors residing in our housing community. This role involves a commitment of 40 hours per week to facilitate educational and social activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate resident needs through surveys and personal consultations.
  • Organize and lead on-site meetings, social events, and educational programs for all age groups.
  • Identify and connect residents with community resources for housing stability, including health insurance, food assistance, employment services, and government aid.
  • Oversee and manage virtual programming.
  • Create and curate content for the monthly community newsletter.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with property managers, community partners, and volunteers.
  • Ensure the organization of physical spaces and administrative documentation.
  • Assist residents in utilizing the on-site computer lab.
  • Conduct outreach through automated communications, flyers, and door-to-door visits.
  • Refer residents to appropriate agencies and support their follow-through.
  • Collect and analyze data related to resident and volunteer programs.
  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth aged 6-17.
  • Offer homework assistance and educational support.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate curricula across various subjects including Health and Wellness, Arts and Crafts, Multiculturalism, Service Learning, Technology, and Performing Arts.
  • Recruit and oversee volunteers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.
  • Must be over 18 years of age.
  • Ability to engage with a culturally diverse community.
  • Preferred experience of 2 years in youth development for ages 6-18.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Associate's Degree or currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with low-income populations.
  • Valid California driver's license and access to an insured vehicle.
  • Availability for some evening and weekend hours, as well as travel throughout California.
Physical Requirements:

The Community Engagement Coordinator must be able to communicate effectively and perform various physical tasks including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting up to 25 lbs. The role may involve exposure to computer screens and requires good vision.

Work Environment:

The position typically operates in a recreational or common area with a moderate noise level that may vary based on activities.
