Department Overview
The Undergrounding Pre-Construction Delivery team is tasked with managing environmental approvals, land surveying, land acquisition, and securing necessary rights for all underground, system hardening, and remote grid initiatives. The team is committed to delivering projects to construction teams on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Position Summary
The Principal Program Manager will oversee the timely approval and execution of undergrounding, system hardening, and remote grid projects within the jurisdiction of Caltrans. This role involves close collaboration with Central Estimating, the Pre-Construction Delivery team, the Undergrounding PMO, and construction management to navigate the PG&E process effectively, enhance project submission protocols, and ensure compliance with Caltrans standards.
This position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for flexibility between remote work and on-site responsibilities as needed.
Compensation Range
PG&E provides a salary range that reflects the company's good faith estimate for this position. The actual salary will depend on various factors including skills, education, experience, and geographic location.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $140,000
Bay Area Maximum: $238,000
California Minimum: $133,000
California Maximum: $226,000
Job Responsibilities
• Utilize extensive knowledge of Caltrans and PG&E project protocols to enhance collaboration with local Caltrans offices and streamline project timelines.
• Assume accountability for all undergrounding initiatives requiring Caltrans engagement.
• Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement enhanced processes, policies, and best practices aimed at improving customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance while reducing costs.
• Collaborate with project managers across departments to optimize resource allocation and achieve financial and productivity objectives.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and representative on process improvement teams and regulatory discussions.
• Create and execute communication and training strategies to ensure compliance with program policies and procedures.
• Engage in program execution with external contractors, partnering with the Contract Management department on agreements and negotiations.
• Provide insights and recommendations to PG&E leadership and other utilities regarding similar programs.
• Mentor and guide less experienced team members.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 10 years of relevant experience, including SAP proficiency
• Experience in project or program management
• Proven track record in managing capital or operational budgets
Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
• Experience with Caltrans operations
• Familiarity with PG&E Caltrans construction projects
