Position Overview

As part of the ongoing expansion at Sargent & Lundy, we are seeking a dedicated Project Manager within our Electric Grid Infrastructure Services division. This role provides a unique opportunity to lead and develop a project team of engineers and designers focused on the design, enhancement, and evaluation of high voltage substations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the execution of various transmission and distribution initiatives, coordinating with multiple internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage project execution, including contract oversight, strategic planning, and resource allocation.
  • Assume full responsibility for project outcomes, ensuring safety, adherence to schedules, budget management, and client satisfaction throughout the project duration.
  • Guide and supervise the project team, fostering accountability and providing mentorship to team members.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with client functional leads and stakeholders.
  • Lead initiatives to guarantee projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within financial constraints.
  • Support the tracking and reporting of key performance indicators related to schedules, budgets, and other critical metrics.
  • Identify and mitigate construction risks effectively.
  • Recognize, monitor, and manage project changes proactively.
  • Engage in clear communication with relevant stakeholders and supervisors.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports that convey project information succinctly and meet client specifications.
  • Analyze challenges and propose solutions to enhance project outcomes.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program or a degree in management/business.
  • A minimum of 7 years of specialized experience in Project Management for Utility Transmission projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the electric utility sector (engineering, construction, planning, etc.).
  • Experience acting as a liaison between firms and clients in either a support or leadership capacity.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Valued but Not Required Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in engineering design is advantageous.
  • PMP Certification is a plus.
  • Experience in construction and project initiation is beneficial.
