POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Chef plays a crucial role in managing and guiding kitchen personnel, contributing to menu development, and overseeing inventory and supply management. This position ensures the highest quality of food and maintains a well-organized kitchen, adhering to hygiene and safety regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and coordinate food preparation activities within the kitchen.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to create diverse menus that align with the restaurant's vision and standards.
  • Establish work schedules and optimize kitchen operations for maximum efficiency.
  • Design food presentations to achieve an appealing balance between aesthetics and flavor.
  • Develop tasting menus for clients planning events such as weddings, corporate gatherings, and celebrations.
  • Train kitchen staff to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Accurately measure ingredients and food portions.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and procedures among kitchen staff.
  • Utilize kitchen tools and equipment, including grills, ovens, and steamers, in food preparation.
  • Manage kitchen inventory, ensuring the freshness and quality of supplies.
  • Monitor cooking temperatures and proper food storage practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and kitchen equipment.
  • Oversee kitchen operations during opening and closing, as directed by the Head Chef.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar culinary role.
  • A minimum of 2 years specializing in Italian cuisine.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exceptional culinary skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and motivate kitchen staff.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices in hospitality and catering.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and restaurant management software.
  • Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.

EDUCATION:

Culinary Degree is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Excellent verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to interact effectively with guests and team members, and respond swiftly to challenges.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to remain mobile for extended periods, utilizing hands and arms, and standing or walking for long durations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
