SALARY: $18.80/hour

HOURS: 40 Hours per Week

8:00 am to 4:30 pm

(Starting and Ending to be set by Management)

On-call duty on a rotating basis with other Caseworkers.

BENEFITS: Full County Benefits after 90 days

Probationary Period- Medical after the first day of new month after hire date

OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB:

To deliver comprehensive case management services for an assigned caseload. This role is an entry-level professional position in social services, with all responsibilities conducted under the close supervision of a County Caseworker Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
  1. Engage in formal and informal training programs that provide foundational knowledge relevant to the agency's mission and applicable laws, methods, procedures, rules, and regulations governing the agency's operations.
  2. Execute entry-level case management responsibilities for approximately twenty families, including foster children, protective services, supervision services, and child abuse cases, which involve regular home visits and inspections/assessments.
  3. Prepare and deliver accurate and comprehensive testimony in court for assigned cases.
  4. Maintain individual case notes, dictation, and documentation on assigned cases in compliance with state requirements.
  5. Utilize computer software and other office equipment as necessary to fulfill job duties.
  6. Identify and coordinate services for individuals and make timely referrals to the team.
  7. Collaborate closely with other professionals such as behavior therapists, speech and hearing therapists, physical therapists, registered and/or licensed practical nurses, psychologists, physicians, and others to ensure the most effective care and treatment.
OTHER DUTIES OF THE JOB:
  1. Attend training sessions as required and approved by the supervisor.
  2. Serve as a resource for individuals seeking information.
  3. Assist colleagues in addressing the needs of consumers.
  4. Perform any other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Regular instruction and ongoing supervision regarding daily work responsibilities from Supervisor.

SUPERVISION GIVEN:

None.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  1. Work indoors and outdoors in adequate workspace, lighting, ventilation, and temperatures.
  2. Experience above-average exposure to stress and noise, with frequent disruptions.
  3. Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt.
  4. Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL CONDITIONS:
  1. Ability to record, convey, and present information, explain procedures, and follow instructions.
  2. Capability to sit for extended periods throughout the workday, with intermittent periods of standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, and driving as necessary to perform essential job duties.
  3. Dexterity requirements range from simple to coordinated movements of fingers/hands; feet/legs; torso as necessary to carry out job duties.
  4. Light work, with occasional lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to twenty pounds.
  5. Must demonstrate emotional stability.

  7. Attention to detail and the ability to concentrate on work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. EDUCATION/TRAINING
A bachelor's degree in social work; or a bachelor's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences, along with 1 year of social service experience; or a bachelor's degree in another field supplemented by 12 college credits in the social science field and 2 years of direct social service work experience. Alternatively, any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  1. Proficiency in speaking and understanding the English language and following oral and written instructions.
  2. Knowledge of current social case management principles, techniques, and methods.
  3. Awareness of current social, economic, and health issues and resources, and their impact on individual growth and development.
  4. Understanding of individual and group development and behaviors, and effective methods for working with adults and children facing social, economic, emotional, or health challenges.
  5. Familiarity with the basic principles and methods of program interpretation and community organization.
  6. Ability to work effectively with individuals and assist them in utilizing their potential to adjust to specific disabilities.
  7. Capacity to understand and assess the needs and rights of others, and to work with individuals who are physically challenged, emotionally troubled, or economically disadvantaged.
  8. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  9. Initiative and problem-solving abilities.
  10. Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of local, state, and federal agencies; health organizations and institutions; and the general public.
  11. Proficiency in conducting research and organizing professional presentations.
  12. Technical knowledge of operating personal computers and other office equipment.
  13. Good communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  14. Ability to prepare required reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  15. Knowledge of federal, state, and county laws, policies, and procedures regarding local government operations, county code, and administrative policies.

  17. Basic math skills and ability to accurately prepare required reports and maintain mathematical records.
  18. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding county information and files.
  19. Possession of a current/valid Driver's License.
