Fire Investigator Job Description

Welcome to National Fire Experts, a leading company in the property insurance intelligence industry. We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Investigator to join our team in Los Angeles, CA.

Job Summary

The Fire Investigator will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations of fire and explosion scenes to determine the cause and origin of fires. They will analyze evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare detailed reports to present their findings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire investigation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations of fire and explosion scenes to determine the cause and origin of fires.
  • Analyze evidence, including physical evidence, witness statements, and other relevant data.
  • Prepare detailed reports to present findings to clients and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex information effectively to clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in fire investigation.
Requirements
  • CFEI certification through NAFI or CFI certification through IAAI (preferred).
  • Private Investigator License in the state(s) in which they are assigned within 60 days of employment (if applicable).
  • Familiarity with NFPA 921.
  • Meet all the requirements for qualification as a fire investigator per NFPA 1033.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience working in the public and/or private sectors performing fire origin and cause investigations on residential and commercial structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple project workloads and periods of high stress.
