Position Overview

NORTH SUFFOLK COMMUNITY SERVICES INC is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Residential Support Specialist within our Emergency Respite team. This position is vital in fostering engagement, conducting assessments, and participating in treatment planning to meet the diverse needs and aspirations of those we serve. Our focus is on enhancing overall health and well-being in accordance with recovery-oriented principles.

We offer various employment opportunities ranging from 20 to 40 hours per week, allowing candidates to indicate their preferred working hours during the application process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating interactions with individuals to improve their health and wellness, stabilize symptoms, and cultivate skills impacted by mental health challenges.
  • Supporting individuals in recognizing personal priorities and setting achievable goals that promote recovery.
  • Fostering a sense of hope through positive and empowering interactions.
  • Delivering flexible and timely direct care services.
  • Executing support and prevention strategies to reduce risk factors.
  • Maintaining confidential documentation of individual progress.
  • Providing interventions and rehabilitation services aimed at managing symptoms and encouraging personal development.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience:
    • At least one year of experience working with individuals facing severe mental health issues or substance use disorders (if a college degree is not held).
  • Skills/Other:
    • Valid driver's license is mandatory.
    • MAP certification is required within five months of employment.
    • CPR/First Aid certification must be obtained within five months of employment.
