We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Benefits Administrator I to provide administrative support to our team leaders and service team. The successful candidate will ensure that new business, renewals, and broker of record letters meet the requirements of the writing carrier. As a liaison between the insurance carrier and internal staff, you will provide exceptional customer service and ensure seamless communication.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide day-to-day customer service, responding to carriers, internal staff, and/or broker questions, and assisting with claims and billing problems.
- Review, compile, and prepare group information for large group RFPs.
- Follow up with carriers on requests for quotes.
- Provide internal staff with follow-up communication and approvals for brokers on plan changes and open enrollment issues.
- Prepare and amend large group spreadsheets as assigned.
- Work with insurance carriers to process and follow up on various items, including enrollment, proposals, broker matters, new business, and product information.
- Help maintain BOR letters, including following up with brokers and/or carriers and assisting with plan design and rate information.
- Provide renewals to appropriate brokers.
- Enter data into commission database.
- Update client database on an ongoing basis and create and maintain case files of critical client information based on implemented workflows.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure service and turn-around times meet Emerson Reid standards.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with carriers and internal staff.
- Entry-level position with 1 year + employee benefits experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED degree required; Bachelor's degree a plus.
- Familiarity with benefit plans a plus; eager to learn new concepts and further professional development.
- Detail-oriented and prioritizes accuracy.
- Ability to set priorities and manage deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, including experience with data entry, formatting, and formulas.
