Accident Claims Specialist

The Accident and Claims Specialist plays a critical role in the timely coordination of accident and traffic violation reporting, investigation, and documentation. This position is responsible for initiating the accident file setup and coordinating information between the Safety and Legal Departments in preparation for litigation of accident cases.
Key Responsibilities:- Takes and completes first reports of accidents and traffic violations
- Corresponds and coordinates with drivers, managers, and the Legal Department at all process levels of the intake
- Maintains accident files documentation
- Reviews police reports, traffic violations, and all other pertinent information to determine company liability for accidents and traffic violations
- Coordinates with Maintenance Departments for repair orders and operations for photographs in order to provide documentation to parties causing damage to company property/equipment
- Retrieves, reads, and interprets information from our Mobile Communication System (Critical Events, Hours of Service, and equipment status)
- Retrieves video events from our dash cameras to determine the cause of accidents
- Provides departmental-related correspondence and weekly/monthly reports as needed under the direction of the Accident Intake manager
- Maintains the DOT accident register
- Participates in weekly Safe Net calls
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Accident Intake manager
- BA or BS degree preferred, High School GED or equivalent required
- 3-5 years Transportation safety experience
- Accident and claims management experience
- Computer applications using MS Office
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong verbal, written, and listening skills
- Strong analytical skills and organizational skills
- Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment and proficient in multi-tasking
- Capacity to work effectively under pressure and handle stressful situations calmly
- Able to speak and read Spanish a plus
- Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours, including nights, weekends, and potentially holidays as needed
