Job Title: Server Engineer

Zones LLC is seeking a skilled Server Engineer to join our team. As a Server Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing virtualized server environments using VMware, Hyper V, and KVM.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, deploy, and maintain virtualized server environments using VMware, Hyper V, and KVM
  • Design, deploy, and maintain Windows Active Directory, Entra ID, and M365 applications
  • Develop and implement strategies that align with business objectives and performance requirements
  • Monitor and manage server operating systems, whether physical, virtual, or in the cloud
  • Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches to virtualization software, operating systems, and underlying hardware
  • Optimize server performance and resource allocation in a virtualized or cloud environment
  • Plan and execute scaling of infrastructure to meet growing business needs
  • Implement and enforce security best practices within the environment
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations
  • Maintain detailed documentation of the environment, configurations, and changes
  • Generate reports on system performance, utilization, and capacity planning
  • Work closely with other IT teams to integrate virtualization solutions with other systems and applications
  • Provide technical support and training to junior staff and end-users as needed
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience as a Server Engineer or similar role with a focus on virtualization and the Microsoft family of directories and operating systems
  • Extensive experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and related VMware products
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, OCI) and hybrid environments
  • A good understanding of data center rack infrastructure, connectivity between network and servers, and cabling standards
Preferred Qualifications:
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or any other relevant VMware or Microsoft certifications
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python)
  • Understanding of disaster recovery and backup solutions in a virtualized environment
