Philanthropy Director of Strategic Partnerships

We are seeking a highly motivated Philanthropy Director of Strategic Partnerships to join our team at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco. In this role, you will play a critical part in developing and overseeing a comprehensive donor stewardship and cultivation program, implementing moves-management strategies, and actively managing a portfolio of individual and institutional funders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and successfully implement a cohesive strategy to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward renewal, upgrade, lapsed, and acquisition gifts achieving growth in revenue and an expanded and diversified donor base.
- Identify and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, focusing on prospects rated at $10,000 and above.
- Conduct donor visits regularly and often with a goal of 100 inspiring, memorable, and meaningful visits per year, including qualification visits, making direct solicitations, and closing gifts.
- In partnership with Senior VP of Development, collaborate on the development of an annual calendar of donor cultivation events as well as the execution of events focused on engaging key stakeholders, including Trustee Board, Emeritus Board, Board Alumni, and key donors.
- Demonstrate and maintain a keen sense of excitement and curiosity for prospects and donors, seek to crack the code on what compels each donor to give substantially by asking the right questions and be able to personally adapt as needed to meet the interests of prospects and donors.
- Create a moves management system and oversee its implementation and ongoing use and management; champion your commitment to accountability and transparency by thoroughly documenting all donor moves in CRM.
- Oversee Database Management through supervision of Database Manager, working together to refine processes for monthly and event or campaign-specific reporting, database maintenance, and fundraising activity monitoring.
- Apply knowledge and understanding of BGCSF, its traditions, programs, needs, and priorities to the development process. Persuasively discuss BGCSF needs and priorities with prospective donors and volunteers.
- Provide leadership and support for Planned Giving and non-operating campaign support. To include identifying key prospects for these giving vehicles and developing materials and proposals for conversation and discussion.
- Independently manage collaborative working relationships with the BGCSF President, and executive team, fundraising colleagues in development and institutional giving teams as well as direct service colleagues to develop strategies for joint solicitation and to collaborate effectively.
- Partner with marketing, programs, finance, and other key staff to develop compelling and fresh written materials, proposals, supporting assets, and impact statements that prompt philanthropic support.
- Work directly with Board members, Trustees, Former Board members, and donors who collaborate with us as fundraising volunteers. Provide strategies, plans, and materials to support their efforts to cultivate and solicit prospects/donors on our behalf.
- Be visible in the San Francisco philanthropic community and look for creative ways to tell the BGCSF story in context of San Francisco's own challenges and opportunities.
- Participate on cross-functional teams and be a member of the development leadership team.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- At least 7 years in fundraising with a minimum of 3 years in major/leadership gift solicitation.
- Highly motivated, well-organized professional with a progressive record of achievement and a progressive level of responsibility in frontline fundraising.
- Must have a proven record in identifying, cultivating, and directly soliciting major gifts.
- Innovative, creative, strategic, and analytical thinker with superior presentation skills.
- Presence to engage effectively with diverse constituencies including donors, Board members, and leadership staff.
- Ability to work nights, early mornings, and weekends as needed for events, meetings, or stewardship opportunities. Occasional travel domestically.
- High level of tact and diplomacy to work well with donors, trustees, volunteers, and staff.
- Excellent listening and communication skills, including the ability to articulate BGCSF's story, mission, and impact in a compelling and inspiring way.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and data analysis. Must have knowledge of fundraising software, preferably Salesforce.
Salary:
The salary range for this role is $125,000 - $140,000 annually.
