Job Title: Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Central Initiatives

Job Summary:

The George Washington University's Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) division is seeking a highly skilled Director of Development and Alumni Relations to lead the Central Initiatives team. This team is responsible for advancing the university's mission through strategic fundraising and alumni engagement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for Central Initiatives, aligning with the university's overall development goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, parents, and friends of the university, to secure major gifts and support for Central Initiatives.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to identify and prioritize fundraising opportunities, and develop strategies to achieve these goals.
  • Manage a portfolio of prospects, including identifying, researching, and qualifying potential donors, and developing and implementing solicitation strategies.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director of Central Development to ensure alignment with university-wide priorities and goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of six years of development experience, with a proven track record of securing major gifts and leading fundraising teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic planning and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with donor management systems and a high degree of comfort with using technology to communicate, track, and share information.
