In this role, you will assist patrons in finding the necessary course materials for both rental and purchase while contributing to the efficient operation of the store. You will be recognized as a subject matter expert in your area while also maintaining a broad understanding of other operational sectors to ensure exceptional customer service by recommending complementary products and supplies, as well as supporting team members with shelving, restocking, and processing transactions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Textbook Department Supervisor, you will collaborate with the management team to support all store operations and departments. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that we have the appropriate textbooks in the right quantities and at the right times. You may engage directly with campus partners, students, and faculty to enhance adoptions, rentals, and promote digital sales while effectively executing our textbook timeline each term. You will lead our team in creating customer experiences that foster bookstore loyalty and achieve measurable results on a daily basis. You will be part of an organization that is consistently recognized as a great workplace where employees are passionate about their roles.

Expectations:

  • Independently or with the assistance of trained team members, execute the textbook cycle from setup to returns under the guidance of Store Management.
  • Utilize department-specific technology to address inquiries regarding course materials, recommend products and services, create textbook adoptions, manage book inventory, process invoices, and source materials based on course descriptions or customer requirements.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all store departments to provide daily support, direction, and assistance to customers and team members.
  • Actively engage on the sales floor to greet customers, respond to inquiries, and assist with the purchase of textbooks, merchandise, or services as needed.
  • Ensure an attractive sales floor by tagging, shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or spaces within the store.
  • Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments as necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent movement throughout the store to access various departments, areas, and products.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting of items.
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range for the Textbook Department Supervisor position is $19.00 – $23.75/hour. Benefits available include:

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a retail environment as a manager or buyer preferred, or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills to effectively match customers with products that fulfill their needs.
  • Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
