Position Overview
The Refrigeration Systems Specialist is responsible for the maintenance and repair of refrigeration systems within food processing facilities. This role is essential for ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently to support the demands of production.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Document maintenance activities to comply with industry regulations.
- Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration and plant equipment as necessary.
- Diagnose issues, execute repairs, and perform necessary adjustments including fluid and filter changes.
- Prepare machinery for scheduled production runs.
- Utilize mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills to troubleshoot and repair production machinery.
- Interpret equipment manuals and work orders to complete required maintenance tasks.
- Supervise the work of others regarding ammonia refrigeration operations.
- Provide emergency repairs during production as needed.
- Identify faulty operations and report any unusual situations to the appropriate supervisor.
- Share information and gather insights from employees and management across the organization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A degree or certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is preferred.
- 3-5 years of proven experience as a Refrigeration Maintenance Technician, particularly in a food processing environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with anhydrous ammonia is required.
- RETA (Refrigeration Engineers Technician Association) certification is mandatory.
The Refrigeration Systems Specialist must possess the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a maintenance team. The descriptions provided are intended to outline the general nature and level of work expected from employees in this role.
