About the Role
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic leader to serve as the Department Chair of Community and Behavioral Health Science at Augusta University. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the department's academic programs, research initiatives, and community engagement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the department, aligning with the university's mission and goals.
- Develop and implement academic programs, including curriculum development, course scheduling, and faculty recruitment and development.
- Oversee research initiatives, including grant writing, project management, and collaboration with external partners.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and external organizations to advance the department's mission and goals.
- Supervise and mentor faculty and staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and operations, ensuring effective use of university resources.
- Represent the department and university at local, national, and international levels, promoting the university's reputation and advancing its interests.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in public health, health services research, psychology, health promotion social science, or similar discipline.
- At least five years of experience in academic leadership, research, and community engagement.
- Proven track record of securing external funding, publishing in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at professional conferences.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading/managing an academic department, educational program, and/or research center.
- Strong network of professional contacts and relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Ability to speak and write effectively in multiple languages, including English and Spanish.
