Job Summary

We are seeking a Department Chair for Biostatistics and Data Science to lead our academic department. The successful candidate will have a strong background in biostatistics and data science, with experience in teaching, research, and departmental administration. The Chair will be responsible for overseeing the department's programs, policies, and activities, and will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to achieve the department's goals.

Responsibilities

The Department Chair will have the following responsibilities:

Serve as the chief academic officer for the department

Oversee the implementation of departmental programs, policies, and activities

Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to achieve the department's goals

Serve as a member of the Dean's leadership team

Represent the department within and outside the university

Preside at all department meetings

Appoint advisory committees to support the work of the department

Make recommendations on faculty appointments, promotions, and tenure

Collaborate with the dean to set a budget for the department and administer the budget

Oversee any administrative staff supporting the activities of the department

Requirements

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

A doctoral degree in biostatistics, data science, or a related field

Experience in teaching, research, and departmental administration

Strong leadership and communication skills

Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students

Experience in budgeting and financial management
