Job Summary

This is a full-time, tenure or non-tenure track faculty position. The Chair of Restorative Sciences reports directly to the DCG Dean, works collaboratively with all of the other DCG chairs and deans, and demonstrates professional behaviors that promote a positive, productive, and caring environment for all DCG faculty, staff, residents, students, and patients.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise 25 paid faculty (20- 1.0 Full-time and 5- Part-time at various FTE), 1 office manager and 6 administrative support personnel.
  • Pre-doctoral responsibilities: D1-D3 courses, pre-clinical labs, and clinical experiences (The Department of General Dentistry is responsible for the D4 year).
  • Advanced Dental Education responsibilities: Prosthodontics, and AEGD programs.
  • Administration (30%): Support of both the department teaching mission (approximately 65% of the pre-doctoral curriculum) and the management of department personnel.
  • Develop and implement strategies consistent with and in support of the DCG strategic plan and mission.
  • Teaching (30%-40%): Participation in both pre-doctoral courses and clinics is expected.
  • Clinical/Patient Care (0%-20%): Provide quality patient care in the Augusta University Dental Associates faculty practice clinic.
  • Research/Scholarship (10%-20%): Participation in department research initiatives and preparation of manuscripts (at a rate of 0.75 articles per year for 10% effort) for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Service - 10%: Leading or serving on DCG and AU level committees and supporting other professional service opportunities that are appropriate for your role.
Required Qualifications
  • DDS/DMD or foreign degree equivalent to a DDS/DMD.
  • Applicants must be a graduate of an ADA-accredited dental school or an ADA-accredited advanced dental education training program (of at least 2 years in length) and have an active unrestricted license in another state or be eligible for licensure by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience collaborating with senior administrative leaders in dental schools, universities, and leadership boards/councils for higher education, accrediting, and/or licensing agencies.
  • At least 7 years of experience in dental education and 5 years of experience in a relevant administrative leadership role.
Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements.
