Job Summary

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Clinical Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Biomedical Technician 1 to work at the UHealth Medical Campus.

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Utilizes standard and specialized electronic test equipment and tools to perform routine tasks, including the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment.
  • Repairs, tests, and calibrates medical equipment according to OEM/AEM specifications in accordance with Joint Commission standards.
  • Assists in enforcing recall and safety alert programs for medical devices, including medical device hazard investigations.
  • Ensures compliance with patient safety goals and applicable requirements.
  • Completes 100% of scheduled ITM's assigned on a monthly basis.
  • Orders replacement parts and supplies necessary for the servicing of medical equipment.
  • Prioritizes workload effectively and completes all work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate documentation as required by current policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Core Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in a related field.
  • If no degree or Military training in a related field, a certificate in Biomedical Equipment Technician Certificate within two years of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
