Job Summary

CARTI is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team in a fast-paced, high-volume Cancer Center. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for operating sonographic equipment and performing diagnostic examinations using sonography. You will maintain a high standard of medical ethics and be self-motivated to increase your level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.
  • Use independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information, medical history, and communicate findings to the appropriate physician.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients while they are in your care.
  • Assist with the daily operations of the sonographic department.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Perform all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
  • Prepare preliminary reports and contact referring physicians when required, according to established procedures.
  • Coordinate with other staff to ensure appropriate patient care is provided.
  • Address problems of patient care as they arise and make decisions to appropriately resolve the problems.
  • Organize daily work schedule and perform related clerical duties as required.
  • Report equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member.
Requirements
  • High school diploma.
  • Graduate of a formal accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
  • Current valid Ultrasound Technologist certification (ARDMS).
  • Current compliance with continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements.
  • Experience as defined by institution.
  • Current BLS CPR certification.
Physical Demands
  • The employee frequently performs moderate lifting of patients, machine accessories, and patient devices/equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment

This position involves potential exposure to infectious diseases. Team members are offered appropriate vaccinations and safety training.
