We are seeking a skilled Youth Support Specialist to join our team at Waypoint.

Job Summary

The Youth Support Specialist will play a vital role in supporting young individuals facing housing crises by providing positive relationships, outreach materials, and necessities. This is a part-time, flexible position (20 hours per week) that requires a dynamic approach and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contact Young Adults: Establish timely contact with youth within 24-48 hours of initial connection and maintain ongoing contact until their situation stabilizes.
  • Maintain Relationships: Build and maintain positive relationships through a non-directive and collaborative approach, utilizing empathy, trust, and respect.
  • Community Outreach: Engage with young adults via email, text, phone calls, and apps to provide support and resources.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Preference given to those with lived experience of homelessness and/or housing instability, as well as experience working with youth aged 18-25.
  • Lived Experience: Strongly desired for those with a minimum of six months of stability without current involvement with Waypoint services.
