Job Title: Commissioner of Traffic Management

Join the City of Toledo, OH team as a Commissioner of Traffic Management, overseeing personnel managing multi-modal traffic management operations. This role involves coordinating temporary and special events traffic control, traffic sign fabrication, installation, and maintenance, traffic signal installation and maintenance, pavement markings, damage prevention, and various permit processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set the tone and direction of the Division of Traffic Management
  • Provide managerial direction for all operational activities related to the provision of Traffic Management
  • Evaluate progress to determine whether goals and objectives are being met
  • Direct administrative, fiscal, and personnel operations
  • Develop, control, and administer the budget of the division
  • Keep abreast of current developments and community needs and make recommendations to the Director, Mayor, and City Council on present and future projects
  • Represent and act as liaison for the City of Toledo with public and private agencies, civic groups, the news media, and the general public on issues relating to divisional activities
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio or have a Professional Engineer license in another state
  • Five (5) years of responsible administrative/management experience in the Traffic/Transportation Engineering field implementing projects and supervising employees
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registered Professional Engineer

The work environment will be encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The employee will work outdoors frequently. Occasional travel to various worksites will be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
