Job Title: Lead Counsel, Remediation

Walmart is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Counsel, Remediation to join our team. As a key member of our Global Governance team, you will play a critical role in mitigating risk and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to promote and support an effective governance program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and refinement of remediation strategy and processes.
  • Oversee a team of remediation directors who develop remediation plans for ethics investigations, outside counsel reviews, risk assessment findings, and external commitments.
  • Lead remediation efforts in significant ethics investigations, risk assessment action plans, and external commitments.
  • Analyze and integrate trends and patterns to determine root causes of problems and identify solutions.
  • Escalate concerns based on risk to the company and recommend a plan of action for resolution to mitigate risk.
  • Lead Walmart's global regulatory contacts program, tracking, reporting, and data analysis of government contacts Walmart receives.
  • Provide department direction by analyzing business objectives, customer needs, and risk priorities.
  • Oversee the development and timely execution of remediation plans to correct process gaps and deficiencies.
  • Prepare remediation reports and presentations for leadership, communicating risks and advising on plans to mitigate or eliminate systemic, complex, or emerging risks.
  • Engage key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate remediation plans.
  • Develop and leverage internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals.
Requirements:
  • Law degree from an accredited law school and 6 years' experience in law.
  • License to practice law in at least one state.
  • 2 years' experience leading cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven people leader.
  • Experience leading global cross-functional teams.
  • Experience prioritizing among multiple high-risk projects.
  • Subject matter expert in identifying and mitigating enterprise risk.
  • Acted as a subject matter expert in designing policies, procedures, and controls with an understanding of how to measure effectiveness.
  • Process-minded and look for opportunities to streamline for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with senior leadership and stakeholders.
