Job Overview

PotomacWave Consulting is seeking a Software Engineering Support Specialist to provide expert technical management for a Federal client. This role encompasses leadership on significant technology initiatives, establishing strategic goals and plans to achieve project aims, and possessing in-depth technical expertise across various assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate software components within research studies, including software development, planning, and execution.
  • Analyze research goals and deliver software designs tailored for mobile devices, embedded systems, and computer-based software components.
  • Collaborate with junior developers to create research proposals and plan study designs.
  • Implement software components aligned with research objectives.
  • Deliver Software Engineering services, including development, testing, and quality assurance to rectify software issues.
  • Conduct thorough software code and technical reviews to communicate software architecture and usability to stakeholders.
  • Develop and oversee the execution of test plans and evaluations for software components to support research goals.
  • Identify relevant Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) topics.
  • Assist in crafting and executing test plans for evaluation activities.
  • Test and validate new system software and code modifications against established performance standards.
  • Coordinate with various personnel to ensure core functions are consistently achieved.
  • Advise on innovative strategies to meet technical objectives.
  • Develop interfaces for mobile and backend systems according to specifications.
  • Support code testing and process enhancements.
  • Facilitate training and help desk support as needed.
  • Create comprehensive design documentation, including UML diagrams, functional design documents, and user acceptance standards.
  • Integrate software applications with various operating systems, including Android, Linux, and Microsoft Windows.
  • Ensure integration of medical applications with existing systems to facilitate data transmission.
  • Support Risk Management Framework processes to secure cybersecurity approvals for software components.
  • Prepare and present technical and management reports detailing software capabilities and recommendations.
  • Evaluate and incorporate third-party software applications as required.
  • Provide technical support for software during field exercises and projects.
  • Conduct project code reviews and generate reports as requested.
  • Utilize object-oriented design methodologies to enhance software reusability.
  • Develop applications using standard computing languages and frameworks.
  • Engage in software engineering across various database and development environments.
  • Analyze project requirements and create use cases while documenting code and processes.
  • Prepare necessary Information Assurance documentation as required.
  • Integrate mobile operating systems into medical applications with communication systems.
  • Provide leadership on significant tasks and technology assignments.
  • Establish goals and plans to meet project objectives while ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in Software Engineering.
  • Proven experience in planning, designing, and documenting applications for mobile devices.
  • Expertise in integrating applications with communication systems.
  • Possess advanced domain knowledge and technical skills.
  • Hold CompTIA Security+, Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certifications, or equivalent.
  • Active Secret clearance is required.
