Job Summary

The Salvation Army Central Territory is seeking a skilled Music Program Coordinator to join our team. As a Piano Accompanist and Music Educator, you will be responsible for planning and implementing a music program that includes teaching theory, performance skills, music, and values to children and adults in the corps and community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Quality Piano Accompaniment: Accompany choir programs, including weekly rehearsals, recitals, and concerts, and various performances throughout the year.
  • Plan and Execute Music Programs: Work with corps leadership to plan and attend all recitals, prepare corps music programs for concerts, and encourage participants to develop musical abilities.
  • Develop and Implement Music Curriculum: Create and implement music curriculum that aligns with the Salvation Army's mission and values, and encourages participants to discover and develop skills and talents.
  • Collaborate with Corps Leadership: Work closely with corps leadership to ensure music performances and activities align with the Salvation Army's mission and values.
  • Support Summer Music Camps: Assist with planning and executing summer music camps, including the divisional music camp and summer music day camps.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years' music experience working with children/adults, with performance experience preferred.
  • Certifications/Licenses: None required.
  • Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and in a primary instrument, personal knowledge of music, strong leadership and organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
Working Conditions

This position requires light physical work periodically, frequent use of standard office equipment and a PC, and occasional travel. A valid driver's license is required, and the employee must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
