Job Summary

As a Driver I with the City of Chesapeake, you will provide safe and reliable transportation services to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities who participate in the Community Options Group day service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport individuals to and from the Day Support program, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate travel logs, recording mileage and passenger information.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including refueling and preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with driving regulations and maintain a valid driver's license.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with one year of college education or related experience.
  • Three months of full-time equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record in compliance with City regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience driving wheelchair-accessible vans.
  • Experience providing transportation services to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
  • Ability to pass CPR, First Aid, and TOVA training, and be certified by Modivcare.
