Role Responsibilities:

The educational support specialist will assist a certified educator in delivering tailored instructional and non-instructional activities for students with significant multiple disabilities, including sensory challenges. This role involves working closely with students in small groups and on an individual basis to provide the necessary physical and emotional support, enabling them to fully engage in the educational experience.

  • Support classroom teachers in delivering academic instruction within an inclusive public school setting.
  • Help establish clear and structured behavioral expectations for students.
  • Assist in preparing classroom materials under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Participate in correcting and grading student assignments as directed by the teacher.
  • Provide supervision during transitions between classes, lunch, recess, and other activities.
  • Assist in overseeing large group meetings, activities, or field trips alongside other staff members.
  • Maintain accurate records and perform clerical duties as needed.
  • Act as a substitute teacher in the absence of the classroom teacher (additional compensation may apply).
  • Serve as a positive role model for students at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding student and family information.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Maintain consistent attendance.
  • Exhibit flexibility and a willingness to acquire new skills and fulfill responsibilities.
  • Carry out assigned duties with a high level of professionalism and take responsibility for personal development.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Effectively manage students with behavioral challenges under teacher guidance.
