Position Summary:
We are looking for a compassionate and proficient Vascular Access Nurse (PICC RN) to become a vital part of our healthcare team in Central Texas. This role offers flexible PRN scheduling to fit your lifestyle. As a Vascular Access Nurse, you will be essential in delivering specialized care focused on Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC lines). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vascular access techniques, infusion therapy, and patient education.
Key Duties:
- Vascular Access Techniques:
- Execute the insertion, maintenance, and removal of PICC lines with accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
- Employ ultrasound guidance to ensure optimal catheter placement.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate vascular access sites, maintaining the highest standards of care.
- Infusion Management:
- Administer and oversee intravenous (IV) therapies, medications, and fluids as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Monitor patients during infusion procedures, identifying any adverse reactions and responding appropriately.
- Patient Instruction:
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding the purpose, care, and maintenance of PICC lines and other vascular access devices.
- Deliver thorough instructions on infection prevention and self-care practices to ensure patient safety.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to create and implement tailored patient care plans.
- Maintain effective communication with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Record Keeping:
- Document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Quality Enhancement:
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and refining vascular access practices.
- Education and Licensure:
- Current RN licensure in Texas.
- Certification in Vascular Access (VA-BC or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, specializing in vascular access and infusion therapy.
- Proficient in ultrasound-guided PICC line placement.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Able to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
