Position: School Psychologist - Main Campus for Grades 4-12

Arizona Autism Charter Schools, Inc. is seeking a dedicated School Psychologist to develop and execute a comprehensive plan for establishing a special education evaluation framework.

The School Psychologist will play a pivotal role in the Special Education leadership team, ensuring adherence to compliance standards, enhancing programming, implementing interventions, and fostering parent engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments in cognitive, achievement, social/emotional, adaptive behaviors, and autism spectrum areas.
  • Analyze and interpret student data to provide recommendations for suitable services across both regular and special education programs.
  • Communicate individual test results and recommendations to parents of students being evaluated for special education services.
  • Collaborate with educators, administrators, and other professionals to maximize student educational outcomes through informed placement and management strategies.
  • Establish a mentorship program aimed at supporting students' social and emotional growth.
  • Engage with parents regarding their children's learning capabilities, achievement levels, and personal adjustments, while suggesting resources for additional professional support.
  • Provide recommendations based on psychological assessments in cases of student placement decisions, including exemptions, retentions, and accelerations.
  • Prepare and submit special education data as required.
  • Participate in reviewing incoming student records to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Attend IEP meetings as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative when necessary.
  • Oversee the school's Child Find Process in alignment with Arizona Department of Education standards.
  • Assist in maintaining the accuracy of the school's special education census.
  • Stay updated on advancements in school psychology, educational practices, and special education legislation.
  • Design and deliver professional development sessions for staff to enhance their understanding and support of special education.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid Arizona School Psychologist certificate and license.
  • Holding a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  • Preferred experience as a teacher or school counselor, or an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical and Other Requirements:

This position requires the ability to perform various physical activities including stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, and repetitive motions.

Light Work:

Involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Work Environment:

Work is primarily conducted in an indoor classroom setting.
