Position Overview: The Power Systems Engineer will work in conjunction with a diverse team of licensed engineers, project coordinators, designers, clients, and other personnel to address our client's requirements while gaining invaluable experience to advance and establish themselves as a recognized authority in the field. This role involves supporting a variety of initiatives related to automation, control systems, control panel design, and electrical power systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for project deliverables, including the design of electrical power systems, renewable energy systems, control systems, motor drives, programmable logic controllers, hardware, and instrumentation.
  • Draft, review, and revise design schematics utilizing AutoCAD.
  • Conduct and/or verify technical calculations.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to devise solutions for project challenges.
  • Lead and assist in on-site Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), system commissioning, and training activities related to designs.
  • Oversee project budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Research relevant codes, standards, and equipment manuals to guarantee project compliance.
  • Generate reports, correspondence, and documentation for projects.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve project milestones and enhance knowledge and experience.
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders, including project managers, project engineers, and other project team members.
  • Proactively identify non-routine conditions and issues, develop solutions, and seek guidance when necessary.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • FE or PE certification is preferred, with opportunities for certification development available.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with AutoCAD or similar engineering software is advantageous.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience is preferred, though not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • A self-motivated individual with strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to manage multiple projects simultaneously rather than focusing on a single large project for an extended period.
  • Travel to job sites and occasional overnight stays outside the local area may be required.
  • Experience with various PLC, HMI, SCADA, or power system software programs is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Siemens and Allen-Bradley automation components is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of UL508A Control Panel design and standards is an advantage.
  • Experience with electrical protection and control systems is a plus.
  • Experience with solar and other renewable energy system designs is advantageous.
  • Comfortable working around energized power distribution equipment and associated control systems.
  • Effectively communicate with key stakeholders, including project managers, project engineers, and other project team members.
  • Proactively identify non-routine conditions and issues, develop solutions, and seek guidance when necessary.
