Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Technical Support Specialist to join our team at the Schlafly Branch of the St Louis Public Library.

About the Role

This is a 20 hour per week position with a competitive salary range starting at $17.67 per hour, offering a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and life insurance, paid vacation and holidays, pension plan, partial tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to customers, assisting them with the use of library computers, personal devices and other equipment.
  • Plan and lead training sessions and programs for staff and customers on technology-related topics.
  • Participate in regular team discussions regarding technology, library services and customer assistance.
  • Communicate effectively with managers regarding maintenance and help desk tickets for technology issues.
  • Deliver one-on-one technical assistance to customers through Tech Connect appointments.
Requirements
  • Friendly and patient demeanor, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work strategically with customers of varying technological proficiency levels.
  • Capable of presenting information clearly and responding effectively to questions from customers and staff.
  • Flexible and positive attitude, with a willingness to work collaboratively with staff and colleagues to overcome challenges.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing tasks and priorities.
Education and Experience
  • At least six months of customer service experience.
  • An associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; high school diploma or GED acceptable.
  • Strong communication, writing, speaking and organizational skills.
  • Comfort with using and learning technology as the library continues to evolve.
