Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Desk Clerk Substitute at Deborah's Place. As the first point of contact for visitors, this role is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the reception desk for our housing sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and execute desk clerk policy and procedures, including monitoring the facility interior and exterior perimeter.
  • Complete security logs, written incident reports, and answer phones.
  • Register guests, accept and document rent payments, and respond to emergency situations according to protocol.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to tenants and visitors.
  • Coordinate reservation and preparation of meeting rooms.
  • Maintain guest register, submit maintenance requests, and prepare incident and rule violation reports.
  • Sort and distribute mail for tenants and staff.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Fire Safety certification by the City of Chicago required within six months of employment.
  • 1-2 years of customer service or front desk experience. Social service and/or residential program experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of security systems, issues surrounding homelessness, and proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, conflict management, and crisis intervention skills.
